Exhibitions at Gallery 22B.

Our exhibition schedule for 2019 is currently a work in progress.  At the moment we are planning a solo exhibition each plus at least one invited artist – possibly a very exciting North West based stained glass artist. More details as soon as we have them. We will be closed from Christmas to February.

Current exhibition:  On until February 2018

Its back to our own work for the winter. We have hung  pictures from this year – and some from last – as well as making sure that there is an affordable collection of prints, both framed and unframed. Here are some of our most popular images, which could make good gifts. We appreciate that buying art as presents can be a leap of faith, so we are happy for presents to be exchanged for an item of equivalent value. If you gift includes a commissioned frame, then the frame will have to be kept, but we are happy to change the image in it. Small prints of all our images available from £15.

previous Exhibition: On until October 2018

‘Recollections’ by Jackie Murtaugh

Lancashire Lass Jacky Murtaugh is an award winning, contemporary artist who originally found success Down Under. She is known for her vibrant and vivid paintings and won awards for her land and seascapes.
Having travelled extensively she has returned to her home town with a different perspective, seeing familiar places with new eyes. Her work focuses on repetition, colour and organic pattern heavily influenced by the natural landscape.
A black tree or a twisted vine conjures up an image of a distant land full of intrigue and memories. Chasing shadows through rainbow palms, taking refuge besides still waters, all reflecting a deep understanding of the connection between experience and expression.
The habitual repetition of organic themes in Jacky’s work show the artist’s fascination with nature and her obsession with the intricacies of pattern found in trees, hedge rows or a tangled web of branches. She uses these complexities as a metaphor for the twists and turns of everyday life and sets the mood using light and atmosphere in her own impressionistic style. Using a layering method and mixed media techniques, Jacky incorporates symbolism, texture and strong depth of colour into each painting.

Previous Exhibition:
The Secret Artists Show

A mixed show of four very different artists: a painter, an illustrator and a sculptor and a printer. All four of the artists are Pendle based. We have invited these particular artists to exhibit as we feel they stay true to their own voice. They are all local, and to varying degrees undiscovered.
